US Open (Tennis)


The US Open is a tennis tournament also the formerly United States Open tennis championships. It is the one of the oldest championships in the world. The US Open has developed from a limited entertainment event for the high society in which more then 600 male and female professional players struggle for the total prize. The tournament was first held in the month of August 1881 and the location was at the Newport Casino, Newport Rhode Island.  The Us Open became the first of the Grand Slam tournament in the year of 1970.

The open era began when the all five events were combined in to the Us Open which has been held at the West Side Tennis club in forest hill New York. In the year of 1963 the mutual tournament was open to the professionals for the first time in which 96 men and 63 women have been entered   in the event. The prize money which decided to give the tournament winners is US$ 21,600,000.

The 2009 US Open played on outdoor hard courts which was held on 13 August to
September 14 in the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis centre New York, United
States. The tournament used a challenge system whereby the defending the champion
automatically capable for the next year’s final.
